About
"NURENGANE " A Beautifully Crafted Japanese Apron That Blends Tradition with Modern Ease | Bringing the Spirit of Kimono into Everyday Life
The wa-modern apron brand “NURENGANE” was born from a desire to bring the essence of traditional Japanese attire into today’s lifestyle.
Our name blends the warmth of the Nagoya dialect with a simple yet essential promise: to remain untouched by water. Function and poetry, practicality and culture — inseparable.
Our designs draw inspiration from the sharp lines of a kimono collar, the refined knots of paulownia boxes used in tea ceremony culture, and Sanada-himo — the durable woven cord once used for samurai sword fittings. By harmonizing rich colors with time-honored craftsmanship, we create pieces that carry both tradition and modern grace.
We also value walking together with Japan’s seasoned artisans and the next generation who will carry these skills forward. As the number of makers continues to decline, we are committed to preserving Japan’s sewing craftsmanship and the soul poured into every single “Made in Japan” piece.
By avoiding overproduction and creating aprons that are both durable and beautiful designed to be cherished for years. We continue to share a sustainable, timeless value with the world.

The defining characteristic of NURENGANE lies in its unique creation process: a seamless fusion of tradition and innovation, East and West, design and functionality.
At the chest and pockets, we incorporate Sanada-himo, a heritage textile often described as the finest woven cord in the world, celebrated for its exceptional strength and ease of tying. Each strand is meticulously hand-stitched by skilled artisans, reinforcing the apron’s durability as a true working garment.
For the kimono-inspired fabric, we collaborate with a century-old dye house, applying delicate gold and silver leaf to create graceful, luminous patterns rooted in Japanese tradition. Beneath its refined exterior lies a supple technical lining with water-repellent and breathable properties — protecting from moisture while maintaining comfort and freedom of movement.
The result is a garment that shields from water without trapping cold air, allowing the wearer to move with confidence even in professional environments.
Yet beauty is never secondary to performance. The silhouette, designed through repeated consultation and pattern refinement, wraps the body with the elegance of a dress. It is a form that flatters, supports, and elevates posture — embodying Japan’s unique philosophy of “beauty in utility.”
At NURENGANE, function and aesthetics do not compete.
They exist in harmony, refined to the smallest detail.
